2007 Winter Heritage Festival

On February 8-10, the Heritage Center will be participating in the Winter Heritage Festival in the Smokies, in conjunction with the Townsend Visitor's Center, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Dancing Bear Lodge, Little River Railroad and Lumber Company Museum, and Richmont Inn. Various activities will be occuring all three days at each venue. 

Guests wishing to attend any event will need to pre-register (up through February 7) for each event with Callie Hardwick at the Townsend Visitor's Center (865-448-6134).

Registration on February 8 will be from 3- 6 pm at the Heritage Center.  Events held at the Heritage Center are as follows:

  • On Friday, the Heritage Center will be hosting a Cades Cove Preservation Association presentation: Portraits by Mary Grace.  In addition, Annette Hartigan (archivist for GSMNP) will be presenting "Portraits and the Place-Based Archives of Great Smoky Mountains National Park." Randy McGinnis, Native American flute player, will be here.
  • On Saturday, the Heritage Center will be hosting Mayor Jerry Cunningham who will present "Cades Cove History", the Cades Cove Preservation Association Mary Grace portraits presentation will again be presented. 

Once again, all events, here and elsewhere, are preregistered events.  People who wish to preregister (up through February 7) need to contact the Callie Hardwick at the Townsend Visitor's Center (865-448-6134).  Registration will be at the Heritage Center  on Thursday, February 8, from 3 - 6 pm.
