The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center is lighting up Townsend with Christmas in the Village - Fridays and Saturdays all month long. Watch hearth cooking demonstrations, meet blacksmiths and weavers, make rag dolls, and discover how mountain families celebrated Christmas 200 years ago.

The 5th Annual Great Smoky Mountains Fiber Fair is coming April 24–25, and we’re looking for talented vendors and workshop hosts to join us for a weekend celebrating Appalachian fiber traditions.

Showcase your handmade goods, tools, wool, yarn, textiles, and more on the historic grounds of the Heritage Center. Connect with fellow makers and share your craft with hundreds of fiber lovers.

Explore the rich herbal traditions of Appalachia — from historic remedies to the wisdom of mountain folk and beloved “Granny healers.”
Sample a variety of traditional herbal teas and learn how these plants were used for everyday wellness throughout the region’s history.
